Outlook and Exchange Hosted Email issues
(Written: 03/08/2019, Updated: 03/08/2019)

I located a fix for Microsoft Outlook failing to conclude auto setup of details pertaining to a Microsoft Exchange hosted email account.

Email account auto setup in Outlook kept endlessly asking for the same username and password combination and never finalised the account.

The fix is to visit these two registry paths:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\xx.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover\RedirectServers
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\xx.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover\RedirectServers

and remove any custom values defined therein.

Restart Outlook and attempt email account auto setup again. This time a dialog box message similar to the following should be displayed:

Microsoft Outlook
Allow this website to configure mailbox@domain.tld server settings?
https://autodiscover.domain.tld/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
Your account was redirected to this website for settings.
You should only allow settings from sources you know and trust.
[] Dont ask me about this website again.
Buttons: Allow Cancel

Only tick the "Dont ask me again" box if the dialog appears again AFTER account setup has completed.

Mobile Broadband Brings Hope for Not Spots
Several of our customers receive a landline broadband speed of only 0.3 Mb/s. Such a slow connection is often unreliable even for email. Often they don't realise that mobile broadband is available to them. Even in marginal signal areas, 2-4 Mb/s offers some hope for people in these so-called "not-spots". Read More
